SBA007: Guillemot colony

SBA007: Guillemot colony - Auks
Guillemot (Uria aalge) colonies are noisy, crowded and very messy places to live! However, as well as showing off the group of birds, you can also see the two colour morphs in this image. The normal variety has a black head, while the "bridled" variety (to the right) has a white outline around its eye.

Taken at a colony on the Farne islands, off the Northumberland coast, England.
