SBG008: Herring Gull

SBG008: Herring Gull - Gulls and Kittiwakes
A herring gull (Larus argentatus) resting on the fishing nets at the back of our trawler while the crew sorted the catch. Large scavenging gulls like these were commonly seen around the boats while we worked.

This photograph was taken from a commercial fishing trawler working in the North Minch region (near the Island of Lewis, Outer Hebrides, Scotland).
