SBC001: Cormorant - Shags and Cormorants
An adult cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo) resting by the Forth and Clyde Canal, Glasgow. Cormorants are typically found in freshwater or estuarine regions, unlike their marine cousins, the shags. The two species are extremely similar, but cormorants can be distinguished by the white patches on their cheeks and below their wings.
