Winter photography in Oban

31st January 2011
Well, I'm still not fit to dive thanks to my sinus issues at the moment, so my plans for doing lots of underwater photography over the winter haven't really worked out too well. Nonetheless, I was up in Oban over the weekend to drive the bus and boat for a dive training weekend which offered a nice opportunity to take out my above-water camera gear and start taking some photos again which was really nice after a break of a couple of months over the winter.

There wasn't an enormous amount of wildlife within photographing range (several birds of prey were hovering fairly close but were too far to shoot), but I did manage to get some nice shots of a black guillemot in its winter plumage which is something I've been wanting to get for a while now. The best part of the weekend though was easily the local otter which happily swam around the bay each morning hunting while we were getting ready to head out. I didn't get any brilliant shots, but there were a few that weren't too bad! We're going back in 2 weeks time though so I'm hoping to get another go then.

I'll have some shots up later this evening in here and in the galleries.
