Fisheries, Science and Conservation

This is a collection of images relating to the Scottish fishing industry, particularly the Nephrops (Norway lobster, Dublin bay prawn, langoustine, scampi) fishery. The Scottish langoustine fishery is currently the most valuable in the country, with 2007 landings worth over £89 million. Despite having this resource on our doorstep however, most of the landings (as in virtually all UK fisheries) are exported to the continent rather than being sold in the domestic market.

There are also photographs showing some of the impacts humans can have on the marine environment.
