Knotted wrack, Ascophyllum nodosum exposed by the falling tide. This species has characteristic, large air bladders which will not pop if squeezed or stood on (unlike those of the bladder wrack). It is the only species of the genus in the UK and is found in the mid-shore level of sheltered rocky shores.
