USW015: Gobernador Bories - Shipwrecks and Divers
The Gobernador Bories is one of three blockships remaining in the waters of Scapa Flow (the others being the Tabarka and the Doyle). These ships were scuttled in WW2 in order to block entry of German U-boats into the Flow, which was used during both world wars as a major British naval harbour. The wrecks now lie in exrtemely tidal waters, which tend to produce much better visibility than elsewhere in the Flow, and the wrecks here are covered in an abundance of marine life.
