Cod (bycatch)
A cod (Gadus morhua) caught in a langoustine trawl. Cod stocks in the west coast of Scotland are considered to be extremely overfished, and quotas for this species are kept extremely low as a result. However, since most fish will be dead once they have been caught, there is little benefit in throwing back to sea once the quotas have been exceeded.
