Otter trawl in sea
This photo is of an otter trawl being hauled back on board our fishing vessel after trawling. The net is held open in the water by 2 heavy metal 'otter doors', and there are floats on the top and rubber wheels on the bottom rops to keep the net properly oriented at the seabed. We were trawling for langoustines again here. Trawling is the most common method for catching these little lobsters, although creels are also used in inshore areas.
