This was taken one evening at Troon beach, Scotland of a black-headed gull (Larus ridibundus) in winter plumage. The beach is quite exposed to the elements, but is a haven for several species of seabirds, waders and dippers. The light here is excellent for evening photography, if you can get close enough to the subjects.
