Jellyfish scyphistomae
Hydroid-stage of the moon jellyfish, Aurelia aurita. The larvae of these jellyfish settle onto hard surfaces and develop into scyphistomae. These perform asexual reproduction, and bud off small 'medusa' which are the jellyfish we recognise throughout British waters. The medusa is easily recognised by the four pink rings in in the clear bell of the animal.
