Roundfish (bycatch)

These roundfish were captured while trawling for Nephrops. With the exception of the larger cod and hake, the majority will be discarded. Roundfish have a gas-filled swimbladder, which expands during capture due to the change in water pressure. This often causes severe internal injury, and as a result very few will survive if thrown back.
