I'm now back on dry land and will hopefully get a new set of photographs up in the gallery by the end of the week once I've caught up with the backlog of work I left behind.

I'm still at sea on a research cruise at the moment, but we've had some very cool wildlife sightings so far - I'll have new photos of dolphins, sunfish and shearwaters up in the galleries once I'm back, as well as a few more for the 'Fisheries, Science and Conservation' gallery.

I'll be away at sea for the next three weeks, so I'll be taking a wee break from updating the website over that period.

I'm back again from a brilliant week away working in Stornoway, and there are now new images up in the Marine Mammal, Fishing, Seabird and Marine ID galleries.

Photo updates will have to wait a bit this month, with holidays and field work taking up most of August! There will be updates of Pilot whales and Cory's shearwater when I get back though, along with some more seabirds & marine ID photos.

Sharks Trust and DIVER are running a photo competition this summer and are looking for photos of sharks from the UK and abroad.

A reminder that the Marine Identification Course will be run at the Millport Marine Biological Station on the 25th and 26th July. Places are still available!

New invertebrate ID photographs now up!

I am running a marine life identification course for the south Scotland BSAC region on the 25th and 26th July.

With the summer diving season now here, it is as good a time as any to draw some attention to the MCS's underwater photography code of best practice.

I am pleased to announce that Picture-Nature Stock library will now represent some of my work through their agency.

The marine bill was introduced to the Scottish Parliament at the end of April 2009. I discuss the main points of the bill and what it could mean for the future of the Scottish marine environment.
